A few days ago I attended a Jaya Suprana
talk show with Yon Mardiono (Indonesian National Table Tennis player) as the
speaker. There is no doubt about the achievements of the Indonesian table
tennis people from the source, I think everyone agrees.
With this abundant experience of national
and international achievements, Yon hopes that table tennis development in
Indonesia will use the basecamp method like in China and the League method like
in Europe.
Until now, Indonesia does not have a base
camp, every player who enters the National Training Center will be sent abroad
(China) for the Training Center. For now China is difficult to beat because
China uses both methods. The Chinese players practice nine hours a day, this is
what makes the Chinese players so tough.
Entering 187th in the world ranking, Yon is
a player with excellent attacking characteristics owned by Indonesia. Indonesia
can follow an example (comparative study) to China in coaching and managerial
national table tennis.
Sharing stories and experiences at the Jaya
Suprana Show, Yon really inspired Pingpong Nusantara people. A Yon Mardiono
hopes that there will be professionalism in managing/guiding Indonesian table
tennis. Hopefully Indonesian ping pong will be excited again, both for
hobbyists, players and administrators of national table tennis.
But behind the story of Yon Mardiono's
brilliant achievements, there is a sad story in Indonesian table tennis. why?
Since 2009, the Indonesian table tennis
body has split, there has been a dualism in the management of PTMSI. Even today
it has become trialism. This resulted in barren coaching for players. Clubs
disband, players lose their future and many more are sacrificed from
unprofessional management. Finally, Yon hopes that the current management of
PTMSI can be temporarily suspended for better future performance. It is hoped
that the government will step in and help fix the crisis at PTMSI.
Jaya Suprana promised to bring together Yon
Mardiono with the Menpora to discuss the phenomena occurring in Indonesian
table tennis. Hopefully it will be implemented and produce quality discussions
so that it can be the best solution for Indonesian table tennis.
Keep going uncle Yon, keep moving forward
Pingpong Nusantara!!
Healthy spirit and greetings 🏓
